As of today FireRiskAssessments.com are pleased to announce that we will be supporting The Fire Fighters Charity:
Today marks the 350th Anniversary of the Great Fire of London; what started in Thomas Farriner’s bakery in Pudding Lane in the early hours of September 2nd 1666 went on over 4 days to destroy 13,200 houses, 87 parish churches, St Paul’s Cathedral and many other buildings. It is estimated that 87% of the city’s residents lost their homes, which equates to nearly 7.4million Londoners in today’s terms.
This coming 7th September will be the 76th anniversary of the London Blitz when in the course of 24 nights, German bombers dropped 5,300 tonnes of high explosives on the capital. It was during these dark days that today’s Fire Fighters Charity was started. Monies were raised and donated by the USA, Canada, South Africa, Mexico, Nigeria and South America to support the bereaved families of London’s brave firefighters who died whilst tackling the devastation.
The past 350 years has seen many advances in fire protection, but one thing still remains constant; that constant is the men and women who make up our Fire & Rescue Services personnel. It these people and their families that The Fire Fighters Charity support. Today’s charity offers a broad range of services and support to firefighters and their families coming to terms with and recovering from illness, injury and trauma.
The Firefighters Charity relies on the generosity of regular donors and volunteer fund raisers. From 2nd September 2016 we will make a donation to the Fire Fighters Charity for every risk assessment that we deliver. We know that our contribution will make a difference and we thank you for choosing us.
